Why do people fantasize?

For one, it is to feed their overwhelming desires that are not fulfilled, or are impossible to fulfill in real life. Its very similar to virtual reality. He can't have it, so he turns to other forms of 'reality' (at this word i wanted to plunge into a whole talk about reality just like what happened in philosophy class, by i'll spare you guys seeing that most readers would have gone through the same module as me anyway) that closely resemble the happening. Best, it is controlled by you. Everything is in your hands and you get exactly what you asked for, nothing more, nothing less. People game, role-play, and adopt online identities. We despise reality and shun at every given opportunity. Its dee same. Children have their fairytale dreams, and adults have their sexual fantasies. I just read in Teenage mag that 90% of people masturbate. =.= Wtf. Hey does that include children?

Number two. They have nothing else better to do. I mean, its time consuming. What more can you ask for? Even kids know to spend time in class daydreaming then listening to the useless drone of that history teacher.

So it boils down to the human desire. See how powerful we actually are? Desire drives us to our limits and makes us do things that bystanders would never think of. Desire can work one way or another. Desire to win a race can make one run till she faints. Desire for grades, fame, money, possession, love... I'm going too far.

Anyway, let me pull it back. Do you know that one's imagination is thiiis close to the actual happenings? I read in a book that in an experiment, this group of basketballers who were made to IMAGINE practising their shoots in a period of time had the same amount of improvements as this other group that actually DID practise the shoots in the period of time. Whoa, i said, that's way cool! While in the act of imagining, the basketballers not only had to picture the movement but also mentally create things that appealed to the sense of touch and hearing too, like in the real thing.

Does that mean i can train for anything without really doing it? I've not tried it myself though. You might wanta give it a shot, for fun. It might even turn out that our imagination is more 'real' than we thought.
