I remember what i had given her for the last three to four years..

I had been interested in art and craft since i was a primary school kid, so i liked to borrow from the library all kinds of weird kiddy craft books. And for Mother's Day i would handmake flowers. Each year brought something new and nicer -- i did paper cut-outs, paper folding, i used crepe paper and wire, i snuck into my brother's room to peek at what he did for mum so that i could steal his ideas. I remember his handmade cards were really awesome back then. I would always get upset 'cause i felt that his prezzies were nicer than mine.. Haha.. But my mum always made me feel as if mine were just as good as his, so i was a happy girl.

Then, i grew up bit by bit and realized the usefulness of money. The year i bought my mum the first stalk of (fake) flower, i was in euphoria. Even though it was cheap, i was so proud of myself because it looked good. In later years, i just wanted no hassle. It was so convenient to just get her those nicely packaged flowers and the decorated test-tubes that the school would sell.. Everytime, i cannot help but feel a little guilty -- i knew i could have done much more.

This year, its gonna be DIFFERENT. My mum has suffered these few weeks, i wanna give her something nice. Mum and Dad will be leaving for 'honeymoon' in taiwan next week, and they'll be gone by Sunday, so i'll need to get the present BEFORE then.

14th May is not far from now.. Maybe i WILL cook..
